Rs 2,188 cr loss to Himachal in public sector undertakings, HPSEB top looser
Himachal Public sector undertakings (PSU) cumulative losses reaches 2,188 crore in last financial year, Electricity Board (HPSEB) topped the list with Rs 1406.66 crore loss, followed by HRTC at Rs 653.44 crore
Shimla-The cumulative losses of Himachal Pradesh government Public sector undertakings (PSUs) mounted to Rs 2,188 crore at the close of 2011-12, exceeding the share capital of Rs 2,022 crore.
As per the report on PSUs presented in Vidhan Sabha, 13 undertakings incurred cumulative losses to the tune of Rs 2,375 crore, while seven undertakings earned cumulative profits of Rs 187 crore.
Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board (HPSEB) topped the list of loss making undertakings with accumulated losses at Rs 1406.66 crore as on March 31, 2012, followed by Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) Rs 653.44 crore and HP Financial Corporation Rs 118.89 crore, the report said.
HP Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) which earned profits during previous three years, went into red with losses of Rs 16.77 crore, it said.
Himachal Pradesh Horticulture Marketing and Processing Corporation (HPMC) incurred cumulative losses to the tune of Rs 69.94 crore, followed by State Forest Corporation at Rs 35.82 crore, State Cooperative Milk Producers Corporation Rs 21.44 crore, State Handloom and Handicraft Corporation Rs 20.38 crore and HP Agro Industries Corporation Rs 19.69 crore.
Among those making profits, the Housing and Urban Development Authority earned profit amounting to Rs 127.32 crore, HP State Civil Supplies Corporation Rs 22.40 crore, State Industrial Development Corporation Rs 16.89 crore, Ex-servicemen Corporation Rs 13.13 crore and Backward Classes Finance and Development Corporation
Rs 5.44 crore.
