Chhota Shimla five-floor parking-cum-commercial complex inaugurated
SHIMLA- Yesterday, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh inaugurated the five floor parking-cum-commercial complex at Chhota Shimla. The much awaited and much needed complex was built at cost Rs 20 crore. The parking can accommodate about 400 vehicles and is likely to provide partial relief to public of Shimla struggling and frustrated with administration over lack of parking space.
The concession period for the parking would be thirty years with the concession fee amounting to Rs 36 lakhs per year with increase of 10 percent every two years.
Shimla being a popular and famous tourist destination, the government has so far struggled to commit to facilitate them with all basic facilities. This parking would work as little relief.
However, the CM insisted that the efforts are being made for a proper traffic management system in the town. Another similar parking has also been proposed near IGMC Shimla. It’s been proposed that all the parking would be built on build, operate, own and tansfer (BOOT) basis on Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode.
Addressing a gathering, the CM said a similar parking was coming near Lift on Cart Road and at Tutikandi which will have the parking capacity of 250 and 1,000 vehicles. The parking at Lift would soon be completed, he said.
