HP State Biodiversity Board organizing one day training workshop in Kullu

SHIMLA- Himachal Pradesh State Biodiversity Board (HPSBB) is organizing a one day Training workshop on various issues and activities relating to implementation of Biological Diversity Act, 2002 and Rules, 2004 on 22nd June,2016 at Dev Sadan Dhalpur, Kullu, HP in which all relevant stakeholders representing the Zila parishad members, panchayat samiti members, panchayat pradhans of district Kullu and officials from stakeholder line departments mainly Forest, Agriculture, Horticulture, Education, Animal Husbandry, Ayurveda etc. will be participating.

The Training workshop is being organized for increasing the understanding and awareness about the importance, role and issues concerning biodiversity. Information about conservation and sustainable use of bio-resources in the State will also be disseminated. The theme for the training workshop is

Strengthening the implementation of the Biological Diversity Act and Rules with focus on its Access and Benefit Sharing(ABS) provisions.

During the training workshop, the panchayat pradhans of five blocks and five Forest Divisions of District Kullu and Great Himalayan National Park would be sensitized to the importance of provisions of Biological Diversity Act, 2002 and Rules, 2004, process of constitution of Biodiversity Management Committees (BMC) at local level, roles of Biodiversity Management Committees, preparation of People’s Biodiversity Registers (PBR) and Access and Benefit Sharing (ABS) of the biological resources of district Kullu.

The workshop would also witness skit on biodiversity by students of Eco-club of GSSS Bajaura, Kullu district. Director, Department of Environment, Science and Technology; Conservator of Forest Kullu; Deputy Commissioner Kullu; All DFO’s of Kullu Forest Circle; Joint Member Secretary and Senior Scientists of State Council for Science Technology and Environment would be participating in the workshop.
