HPPSC ‘Mobile App’ to facilitate aspirants
SHIMLA- Chairman, HP Public Service Commission KS Tomar has asked National Informatics Centre (NIC), State Unit to develop Mobile App within a month to benefit thousands of aspirants who compete for various written examinations conducted by the Commission.
Tomar said that he recently discussed the issue with Ajay Singh Chahal, State Informatic Officer (SIO), HP Unit and his officials who have assured to develop new mobile app as per requirement of the Commission.
The newly developed Mobile App will be discussed and approved by the Commission prior to its execution. The new Mobile App will have multiple benefits and functions which include notifications alerts by the Commission on receipt of applications of candidates regarding date, time and venues of examinations, interviews and results.
The Chairman said,
it will be a revolutionary in giving timely information to applicants specially those who reside in far flung areas of Himachal Pradesh.
He said the candidates would no longer be dependent on postal services for timely delivery of letters sent by Commission as Mobile App will be helpful to them, he said.
Regarding Technical side, Tomar said that initially Mobile Applications will work on Android platform which enables users and applicants to access submission of applications and tracking status of the applications besides receiving alerts and notifications about exams as well as exams. The candidates will be able to apply for various posts in the online mode through their mobile phones. The government departments will also be able to track their notified position of vacancies, he added.
The advantages of mobile app will be search and apply for a post. (vacancies notified), Notifications Alerts (Advts., Press Notes, Addendum, Corrigendum, Results, Admission/Rejection, etc.),one-touch access to contact information of HPPSC, Scheduling with experts (Interviews, Paper Setters, Examiners), increase accessibility and enhance exposure across mobile devices.
The NIC will develop mobile App with several specifications like mobile applications must be compatible with and accessible on Android platforms and devices, Design of User Interface and User Experience to ensure that the service is user-friendly, structure overall content to make it screen reader friendly, design of consistent visual elements and Mobile App architecture that is scalable and expandable, resolution independent Mobile App that will automatically expand/compress itself as per the screen resolution, one time download.
No running cost for user, developed Mobile app should consider the performance measures in terms of memory, Central Processing Unit (CPU) consumption, solution architecture should be able to address the future scalability requirements, in terms of both application (to add new services) and infrastructure and backend (adding more users), solution architecture should be highly available and in harmony with the existing backend systems and solution should enforce network level security, traffic to be encrypted using secured connectivity.
