Himachal ULBs will accept old Rs. 1000 and Rs. 500 notes as payment of house tax, rent and other payable taxes
SHIMLA- People in Himachal Pradesh, like rest of the Indian states, facing cash scarcity and inconvenience to exchange demonetized old Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 notes.
There is little respite even after a week of demonetization date. However, after extension of date for accepting old currency notes at hospitals, public transport, petrol pumps etc., now the HP Urban Development Department has decided that all Urban Local Bodies of the State would accept the old note denomination of Rs. 1000 and Rs. 500 for recovery of house tax, rent and other payable taxes till November 24 , 2016.
The decision was taken to avoid inconvenience to the people of the State, infomred Director, Urban Development Dr. RK Purthi. He also urged the people of the urban areas to pay their taxes in the offices of the ULBs.
