UHF Nauni’s 4-Day Inter College ‘Sports Meet and Youth Festival’ Kicks Off

Solan-The 4th Annual Inter College ‘Sports Meet and Youth Festival’ was kicked off on Wednesday at the Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry (UHF), Nauni.
Aimed at the overall development of students, the four-day extravaganza is seeing the participation of the three constituent colleges of the University- College of Horticulture and College of Forestry from the main campus at Nauni and College of Horticulture and Forestry, Neri.

UHF Vice-Chancellor Dr HC Sharma was the Chief Guest for the inaugural function. Addressing the participants, Dr Sharma stressed on the need for every student to take part in extracurricular activities along with studies.
“Sports and other extra-curricular activities are an integral part of the university curriculum and help in the overall personality development of students which was necessary for succeeding in life. Sports play an important role in inculcating discipline and improving endurance,”
said Dr Sharma.
He added that the university has taken several steps like the construction of pavilion block and new running track at the University’s Major Dhyan Chand Sports Stadium, new synthetic badminton court, kabaddi mats and volleyball courts in every hostel to encourage students to excel in sports.
In his address Dr Kulwant Rai Sharma, Students’ Welfare Officer stressed on the need to uphold the sportsman spirit in all competitions. He informed that the university has instituted Dr Puran Anand Adhlakha award for Best Male and Female Athlete. Dr Adhlakha was the first principal of the College of Agriculture, Solan.

During the next three days, the students will be participating in both track and field events. In track events, boys and girls from the three colleges will participate in 100, 200, 400 and 800, 1500, 3000, 10000 meters races and team events like 4 x 100 and 4 x 400 meters relay.

Shotput, Javelin, Discus throw, long jump, high jump and triple jumps will make the field events. In addition, teams will also compete in Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Kabaddi, Badminton and Table tennis.
Competitions in the Youth Festival were also held at the university on Wednesday. The events for the festival are taking place in five categories- Music, Dance, Literary, Theatre and Fine Arts. Students are displaying their skills in events like group dance and song, elocution, debate and extempore, one-act play, skit, mime, mono acting, poster and rangoli making etc.

The sports meet got underway with the Volleyball (girls) match between College of Horticulture and College of Forestry, which the former won in two sets.

In football, College of Forestry completely outclassed College of Horticulture and Forestry, Neri with the final scoreline reading 5-1 in favour of the former.

HPBOSE Exam 2021: Schedule for Class 10th and 12th Exams Changed

Shimla-Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE) would soon issue new date-sheets for yearly exams of Classes 10th and 12th as the state Department of Higher Education has asked it to re-schedule the exams. Instead of May, now, the examinations would be held from April 20, 2020, informed the Director of Higher Education, Amarjeet Kumar Sharma today.
He said the process of making changes in the schedule has been initiated. However, the Board had not released any official statement regarding the change till the time of writing.
The pre-board examinations for the board classes would be held from March 8 to March 20 in the morning session. Practical exams would be conducted from April 8 to April 17. Results of pre-board exams would be declared by March 25, and low-scoring students would be given extra classes till April 15.
The recommendations were made based on the opinion and suggestions received from parents and various teacher associations, the Director informed. As per these suggestions, conducting the board exams in May would cause a delay in starting the 2021-22 session.
The HPBOSE is expected to release new date-sheets during the next couple of days.
The Chairman, HPBOSE, Suresh Kumar Soni, today informed that the exams for Class 9th and 11th would be held from March 8 to March 20 in the evening session, and results would be declared by March 31. The new session is likely to begin from April 1, 2021.
Like every year, HPBOSE would provide questions papers to all government and private schools affiliated with the Board. Principals/headmasters of these schools have been asked to submit the requirement for questions papers based on the number of students. The last date for submitting the required details is February 7, he informed. The Board has also asked the school heads to deposit Rs. 100 fee per student for question papers online.

Proposed HPBOSE Date-Sheets for 8th, 10th, 12th Exams 2021 Issued, Objections Invited till Feb 10

Shimla-Date-sheets for Class 10, 12, and 8 yearly examinations for the 2020-21 session have been released by the Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education yesterday. These schedules would apply to both regular and State Open School (SOS) students.
These are proposed date-sheets, which have been uploaded on the official HPBOSE website and objections have been invited from teachers, students, and parents. Objections can be mailed on www.hpbose2011@gmail.com till 10 February 2021.
According to the proposed HPBOSE date-sheets, examinations for 10th class would be held from May 5 to May 20, 2021. For 12th class, exams would be held from May 4 to May 29. Exams for 8th class would be held from May 5 to May 19. While timings for class 10th and 8th would be 8:45 to 12 PM, class 12th exams would be conducted from 1:45 PM to 5 PM.
The Board has already decided that yearly examinations of HPBOSE for Class 10th and 12th for the session 2020-21 would not be conducted online. The decision was taken considering the fact that several regions of the state do not have Internet connectivity due to which students face difficulties.

Class 10th and 12th Yearly Exams Will Not be Conducted Online Due to Lack of Uniform Internet Connectivity in State: HPBOSE

Dharamshala-Yearly examinations of Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE) for Class 10th and 12th for the session 2020-21 will not be conducted online, informed Dr Suresh Kumar Soni, Chairman, HPBOSE. The decision was taken considering the fact that several regions of the state do not have Internet connectivity due to which students face difficulties, he said.
It was decided after the Chairman held a video conference with Deputy Directors and school principals/headmasters to discuss the matter relating to the conduction of examinations.
He also informed that due to the pandemic schools remained closed and the Board could not conduct online practical exams and said that it is considering to allow the schools to conduct them at their level. Further, to avoid crowding at schools, exams would be conducted in morning and evening sessions and more examination centres would be created. He informed that the Board is also considering to provide question papers for 5th, 8th, 9th, and 11th classes to maintain uniformity in examinations across the state.
Various aspects related to various classes are under consideration and would be forwarded to the Education Minister Govind Singh Thakur, he said. In accordance with Minister’s directions, the Board would try to resume regular examinations, the Chairman added.
Further, he informed that the Board is conducting examinations for 12th class (Science) in March 2020 and has invited applications from candidates. The candidates can apply online through nearest SOS centre between 28th December to 28th January.
