Himachal is going to ban the sale of single cigarettes across the state. Also, school and college going students often take advantage of buying a single cigarette as majority of them cannot afford buying entire pack. HP is also planning to increase Value Added Tax (VAT) on cigarettes from existing 36 percent up to 50 percent. Confirming the development, Health and Family Welfare Minister Kaul Singh Thakur said that state government will impose blanket ban shortly on the sale of loose cigarettes.
