Suggestions invited from stakeholders on ICFRE report
Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE), Dehradun has submitted the final cumulative environment impact assessment study report to the Government of Himachal Pradesh on the environmental and social impacts due to the hydropower projects constructed, being constructed or to be constructed in the future on the Satluj basin.
A spokesperson of the State Government disclosed here today that on the direction of the State Government, the Directorate of Energy had asked ICFRE to prepare this study and assessment report. He said that the Government was concerned to safeguard the interests of the stakeholders, power producers, local administration and NGOs concerned with the hydro power generation areas. Their views and suggestions would be helpful in giving shape to the further course of action. The government was giving special priority to bring in transparency in formulating future strategy with active participation of all concerned.
The Spokesperson said that the Directorate of Energy has sent this draft report had been sent to all Block Development Officers (BDO) falling under Satluj basin i.e Kaza, Pooh, Reckong Peo, Bhawa Nagar, Rampur, Basantpur, Anni, Karsog, Sundernagar and Bilaspur. He said that the interested stakeholders could study this report by visiting their concerned BDO office and could send their views and suggestions to the Chief Engineer, Directorate of Energy, Shanti Bhawan, Sector-6, New Shimla-9 before 31st October, 2014. He said that earlier this date was 10th September, 2014.
