Chief Minister announces cash prizes for Himachali players-17th-asian-games

Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today announced a cash prize of Rs 20 lakh each to Kavita Thakur from Manali in Kullu District Pooja Thakur from Jukhala in Bilaspur district and Ajay Thakur from Nalagarh in Solan district for giving exceptional performance being part of the Men and Women National Kabaddi Teams which won the Gold Medal in Kabaddi in 17th Asian Games at South Korea.

He made this announcement during closing ceremony of the Sunni district level Dussehra festival in Shimla district.

He also announced to give a cash prize of Rs. 10 Lakh to Vijay Kumar, the shooter from Hamirpur district who had brought laurels to the State by winning Silver Medal in Shooting in Asian games.

The Chief Minister said that the State Government was keen to develop sports infrastructure in the State and all necessary facilities were being provided to the players. As many as 50 play grounds were being constructed by spending as many as Rs 50 lakh in different schools of the State. The State Government was endeavouring to promote rural games and the Gold Medal won by Indian Team in Kabaddi was sufficient enough to prove that rural games were becoming popular worldwide.
