SHIMLA- At midnight, about 12:15 AM, two policemen break into a private hotel near Dhalli tunnel in Shimla city. The hotel staff was in their beds. Policemen kick them and ask to wake up and provide them disposable cups. The hotel manager was also present at the scene. When the staff expressed its inability to provide disposable cups, policemen demanded glass cups. The manager again told them that the kitchen was closed at 11 PM and it’s not possible to give them glass cups. The policemen got angry and bullied the staff as they were in uniform.

When policemen were about to leave, the night manager of the hotel requested them to close the gate that they had opened while entering. The policemen came back and trashed the staff along with its manager. The manager literally bled but the policemen continued their kicks and blows despite requests from staff for not manhandling them without any reason. A third policeman enters the scene at takes two Dabang inspired cops away. These are the allegations of the hotel manager.

Apparently, it wasn’t the first time these goons in uniform would have bullied and beaten people for their invalid demands. However, this time, they weren’t aware that there is a CCTV camera installed at the reception. All of it is captured in CCTV. The footage isn’t released by the police but some screenshots show policemen trashing the staff.

When policemen came to know about this clear piece of evidence, they tried to pressurize the victims to settle down this matter with a compensation of 10,000.

Shimla SP DW Negi showed a great concern regarding the issue and ordered an inquiry. Perhaps, the concern isn’t because policemen behaved likes strayed goons, but because there is a footage; a clear evidence. Police gundagardi isn’t something new for DW Negi. Under his command Shimla has witnessed many incidents where policemen surpassed all limits of brutality and insensitivity. It’s becoming a part of Shimla police’s work culture nowadays.

The law and order is disrupted since IPS Abhishek Dullar was replaced by DW Negi as the new SP of the district.
