Solan Shoolini Fair 2015 – Three day event begins today
SOLAN: The three day State level Historical Shoolini Fair in the name of local deity Goddess Shoolini, began today at Solan amidst much enthusiasm and fanfare.
Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh along-with his wife and former MP Pratibha Singh and Social Justice and Empowerment Minister, Dr. (Col.) Dhani Ram Shandil inaugurated the fair. The Chief Minister received the palanquin of presiding deity of the area and lead ceremonial procession.
Hundreds of people dressed in colourful attire thronged the temple of Shoolini Mata and participated in the auspicious Shobha Yatra.The procession was carried out through the main bazar together with the festooned tableaux to enable devotees to have a glimpse of palanquin of Goddess Shoolini.
The Chief Minister was accorded warm welcome on reaching Solan by local people and members of district congress committee. Besides, cultural programmes, Chief Minister also witnessed the finals of Lawn Tennis Match played between Kiran Kumar and Nikhil Verma.
Earlier, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone of bridge over Ashwani Khud at Sadhupul which will cost Rs. 3.34 crores, inaugurated office of labour department at Rabon in Solan completed with an outlay of Rs 1.09 crore, Rs.1.30 crore Panchayati Raj building near Water Tank, new building of Regional Hospital completed at a cost of Rs. 4.50 crore and Lawn Tennis Court at Durga Club constructed with an outlay of Rs 25 lakh.
He also visited ‘KHUSHI’, a day care centre for elderly women at Solan. Later, he also listened to the public grievances at PWD Circuit House.
