60% financial assistance to Himachal’s farmers for solar/electric fencing to protect crops from animals
SHIMLA-HP State Government has launched ‘Mukhya Mantri Khet Sarnkshan Yojna’ with an aim to protect crops from stray and wild animals especially monkeys due to which farmers face huge loss to crops annually. It will be done by introducing Solar power or electric fences with a budget provision of Rs. 25 crore during the financial year 2016-17.
Benefits Under Scheme
Under MMKSY scheme farmers will receive 60 percent financial assistance for fencing the farm both for individual or group of farmers. The project has two components, one is solar powered electric fencing and another is regular electric fencing. A farmer can avail the project assistance maximum upto 1500 running meter, informed the Information and Public Relations Minister Mukesh Agnihotri on Friday.
The project assistance will be released to the beneficiaries directly or through banks, in case the farmer avail loan. The scheme will be implemented in entire state through Deputy Director Agriculture of concerned district. Till now 55 cases have been sanctioned by the department costing Rs. 151.34 lakh, he informed.
How to Apply
In order to avail assistance, the farmers are required to apply to the District Nodal Officer i.e. Deputy Director of Agriculture, who posses the authority to sanction projects in district through Project Implementing Agency in the development Block i.e. Subject Matter Specialist on prescribed application form duly supported with necessary documents. Farmers of the Himachal can contact near by agriculture officer to avail benefit of the scheme.
