School-girl raped and murdered in Shimla, naked dead body dumped in forest: Report
SHIMLA– Cold-blooded murder of a minor school-girl after rape in Kotkhai Tehsil, Shimla district, Himachal Pradesh, created stir among locals as well as administration. According to police, the official postmortem report of the body is yet to arrive; however, the doctor has confirmed rape before strangling her to death.
A case has been registered under IPC Section 302, 376, and POSCO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offense) Act against unknown accused, and three special teams are formed to investigate the crime.
According to the ASI, Police Station, Kotkhai, Deep Chand, there is no trace of criminals yet, but police is collecting evidences from the spot along with recording statements of deceased girl’s classmates, school staff, and parents.
Not only people of Kotkhai are stunned at occurrence of this hideous crime, but the entire district is in shock. Locals said it was the first time such an act of brutal crime was reported from otherwise peaceful upper Shimla region.
The case came into light after a class 10th student, a resident of Taali Kholana (टाली खोलना) village in Balsan, went to school with her brother on July 4, but didn’t return home. On July 5, on failing to receive whereabouts of the girl, parents begin to search for the girl and inquired the relatives, on July 6, someone spotted the naked body of the girl in nearby Dandi forest, about 100 meters above a link road. The uniform of the girl was also found near the spot.
Hundreds of villagers gathered at the spot along with arrival of Sub-Divisional Magistrate and Deputy Superintendent of Police, Theog. The dead body was taken into custody, and was sent for post-mortem on Friday. Team from Forensic Lab, Junga along with dog squad arrived at the spot, and entire area was sealed.
The girl was a student of Government Senior Secondary School, Mahasu. As per initial report, scratches were found on face of the girl, and a few bottles of liquor were also found on the spot.
Enraged over the incident, locals took out a march demanding swift investigation and arrest of culprits. The Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad staged a protest on Friday evening in Shimla hwile Student Federation of India will also organize a protest at 3:00 PM today in front of the Office of Deputy Commissioner, Shimla.
