Man shot dead in Solan by assailants, triggers protest
Shimla – In a shocking incident, a man was shot-dead near Shamti in Solan district, Himachal Pradesh, by some assailants riding a Haryana number car on Monday night between 9 PM to 10 PM. The man was identified as Lucky – a gym trainer in Shamti and son of a police constable posted with Vigilance department in Solan.
The murder has triggered protest in Solan, said reports.
As per the initial report, the police said Lucky was riding a bike while the assailants were in a Haryana number Swift Dzire. Though the reasons behind this murder are not clear yet, some people said that Lucky and the unknown assailants scuffled over a minor accident near Shamti. However, the police isn’t rejecting the possibility of old grudges between assailants and the victim.
As per the report, the men in the car fired three bullets which hit Lucky on his chest. Lucky died on the spot while the assailants fled the scene.
The Superintendent of Police Solan, Mohit Chawla, ASP Manmohan Singh, and Deputy Superintendent of Police arrived at the crime scene and initiated an investigation.
The police department sealed all roads following the murder. A few suspects and an eyewitness were also detained by the police, said reports.
However, the police has not confirmed any breakthrough in the identification and arrest of the assaulters.
The body of the victim was taken to Solan hospital for post mortem where angry public reportedly pelted stones demanding the arrest of the culprits.
Additional District Magistrates (ADM), Sandeep Negi said doctors on duty sought police protection for the staff in view of the protests.
Police is expected to reveal more details soon.
