HPKVN will offer employment support to 65,000 youth, Centre of Excellence to come up in Shimla: Govt

The government said it will take the assistance of industrial houses in training unemployed persons as per their need and employ them in the same units.

Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Government said it will introduce training program and extend employment support to State’s 65000 youth during next five years through the upcoming ‘Centre of Excellence’ of Kaushal Vikas Nigam.

The foundation stone of the Rs. 40 crore project was laid on August 26, 2017, at Anandpur in Shimla rural assembly segment near Tara Devi.

The Centre of Excellence is funded by the Asian Development Bank under a Rs. 640 crore Himachal Pradesh Kaushal Vikas Nigam (HPKVN) project. The Nigam will introduce training program and employment support to Himachal’s 65000 youth during next five years, said the government.

The project will focus on enhancing learning and employment opportunities to the youth between the ages of 15 to 45 years.

The government also announced setting up Block Level resource Centre under the Kaushal Nigam at Jubbarhatti.

The government said it will take the assistance of industrial houses in training unemployed persons as per their need and employ them in the same units.

Special reservation opportunity would be extended after consideration of caste, economic status, and gender of the candidates. Centre would offer short term courses in skill enhancement to the polytechnic college students, said the government.

The foundation stone was laid by the Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh.

Vikramaditya Singh, the State Youth Congress President and Director, BoD of Kaushal Vikas Nigam, and Rajesh Sharma, Managing Director, HPKVN, were also present on the occasion.
