Teacher in Mandi’s Sainj booked for clicking & circulating selfie with ballot paper on social media
Requesting anonymity, some of them said many employees were seen clicking photos of postal ballots and they used to show them to politicians contesting elections to get polling stations of their choice.
Mandi: As an highly irresponsible act, a teacher deployed on elections duty in Mandi district’s Sainj region was booked for clicking a selfie with the ballot paper and circulating it on social media.
The teacher was identified as Kamlesh Kumar, who is employed as a teacher in the Government Senior Secondary School Sainj.
The Returning Office Raghav Sharma confirmed the news and said Kamlesh was issued a ballot paper on November 8 so that he could cast his vote before assignment of a polling station to him.
The RO said that the teacher clicked a selfie with his ballot paper and the serial number of the ballot was clearly visible in the picture. Following the circulation of the picture on social media, the vote of the teacher was cancelled and he was called back from the duty.
The Department of the HP Elementary Education was also given a complaint. The teacher has also been issued a show cause notice and action would be taken once he files a reply to it, said the department.
Shockingly, as per a PTI report, “Requesting anonymity, some of them said many employees were seen clicking photos of postal ballots and they used to show them to politicians contesting elections to get polling stations of their choice.”
However, the authorities have denied any such reports.
