Video: Biker hits pedestrian at a Shimla bus stop, flees the spot
Shimla: A CCTV footage showing a biker hit a girl at Shimla city’s Lakkar Bazaar bus stoppage has gone viral on social media.
The Shimla Police confirmed the incident. The police has registered FIR under Sections 279, 337 IPC and 187 of the Motor Vehicle Act on the statement of the victim, who was identified as Nainika Chandel, a resident of Dhalli, Shimla.
As per her statement, on November 8, 2017, a motor cycle came from the side of Sanjuali and hit her while crossing the road at the Lakkar Bazaar stoppage. The biker did not stop the bike and flee the spot.
Fortunately, the girl got away with some minor injuries, said the police.
The IO PS Sadar Shimla was given the charge of investigating the case.
None of the eyewitnesses could note down the number plate and the CCTV footage is not clear enough to allow the police to identify the biker or the number plate.
Surprisingly, the biker was riding without a helmet despite presence of traffic police in that area.
However, the police said the investigation continues. If caught, the culprit biker would be booked for endangering the life of person due to negligent and rash driving.
