Remove cars from unauthorized parking spaces within 7 days or face action: SP Shimla
The capacity of these parking complexes is not sufficient to cater to the majority of car owners. Where should I park my car if the parking is already full?
Shimla: In an effort to provide some relief to public from Shimla City’s chaotic traffic, the Superintendent of Police, Shimla, Saumya Sambasivan, has issued a warning to those indulged in practice of unauthorized parking. The statement specifically addressed the car owners around Sanjauli, Hotel Holiday Home, Winter Field, and Old bust stand, Shimla.
As per the SP, paid parking complexes are available at these locations. Despite the availability of the parking facility the car owners violate existing rules regarding the parking. Wrongly parked cars on roadsides lead to unnecessary traffic daily, said the SP.
She said that if the cars were not removed within the said period of seven days, they will be towed and taken to the nearest paid parking. The owner will have to pay the charges for the parking, towing, and additional fines in accordance to the Motor Vehicle Act.
However, the public is complaining of insufficient parking space in the exiting complexes.
The capacity of these parking complexes is not sufficient to cater to the majority of car owners. Where should I park my car if the parking is already full? I have no option except stop using the car and sell it,
said Sanjay Sood, a resident of the Sanjuali.
Provide us sufficient parking space and then talk about following the rules. The government should take into notice the increasing number of vehicles. The government should either prohibit introduction of new vehicles or arrange for the parking,
said another resident of Sanjuali.
The notice also asked the cab drivers to refrain from parking near schools except for the brief moment to pick up the school children. It said the cab drivers and parents of the children in various schools should ensure moving their vehicles swiftly to avoid interruption in the flow of traffic.
The private bus owners have been advised to only stop the buses at the designated bus stoppages and refrain from picking up passengers from random spots. It leads to traffic jam due to which a large number of people face inconvenience.
Also, the private bus owners were told to direct the staff to not park the buses at random spots in the city.
