Shimla JPNL Cites Technical Reasons Behind Increased Water Bills

Shimla– Education Minister Suresh Bhardwaj held a meeting with Shimla Jal Prabandhan Nigam Limited (SJPNL) to discuss the matter of the water bills issued at enhanced rates to people of Shimla town. He directed the SJPNL to look into the matter and to take necessary actions in this regard.

Managing Director cum Chief Executive Officer, SJPNL, Dharmender Gill said that water bills were increased due to technical reasons, which would be resolved soon.

Independent Director, SJPNL, Digvijay Chauhan assured the Education Minister that action would be taken against the irregularity in water bills. He said that other than domestic, commercial and construction connections, an alternate option for another connection would be considered to provide relief to people.

Suresh Bhardwaj said that World Bank aided Water Supply Scheme for Shimla town with a cost of rupees one thousand crores would be completed by the year 2023 by SJPNL.

COVID 19 Himachal: 9 New Positive Cases Confirmed, Total Reaches 27

New COVID-19 Cases in Himachal Pradesh's Una

Una- On Tuesday, nine more people were tested positive for COVID-19 in Himachal Pradesh, taking the total number of cases to 27 in the State. On Tuesday a total of 79 samples were tested, out of which 70 tested negative and nine tested positive. All nine are said to be close contacts of Tablighi Jamaat in Una district. These patients include persons aged between 16 to 85 years. Now, out of total positive cases, 19 related to Tablighi Jamaat meet in Delhi. Twelve cases are only from Una district. 

The initial report said that all of these persons were staying in a mosque in Village Kuthehra Khairla, Amb Tehsil of Una district. However, only one of these nine belongs to this village. Five belong to Sirmaur, one to Arki in Solan district, and two hails from Uttar Pradesh. All of them were primary contacts of three members related to Jamaat who were tested positive earlier.

Additional Chief Secretary, Minatory of Health and Family Welfare, RD Dhiman, confirmed the report.

All Passengers Onboard 2 HRTC Buses With 3 COVID-19 Patients Under Scanner

Solan: Three patients of COVID-19 who had travelled through two buses of the Himachal Pradesh Road Transport Corporation on March 18th and 19th seem to have increased troubles for the district administrations, as well as, the State Government.

The district administration of Solan on April 6th has apprised the public through an official notification that a total of 172 persons had travelled in these two buses to various destinations on the said dates.

The district administration has appealed all the passengers who were in the same buses to get themselves medically examined at the nearest health centre and to isolate as a precaution. The Administration has also appealed all passengers linked to these two buses to seek information relating to their health on Telephone numbers 01792-221234,01795-271350 and 104.

The driver and conductor on duty have already been medically examined at Una, Hamirpur and Nalagarh.  Another staff member at the booking window at Delhi was also tested at RML Hospital in Delhi. Their test reports are awaited.

One of the two buses HP-93-0564 carried a total of 51 passengers from Delhi to Nalagarh on March 18th. While 14 travelled upto Baddi, 35 travelled upto Nalagarh.

The second bus HP-12-0446 (Delhi-Nalagarh-Hamirpur route) departed 9:15 PM from Delhi and carried a total of 121 passengers to various destinations including Hamirpur district. Out of this total, 24 passengers were from Baddi, 45 from Nalagarh, 14 from Una, and 33 from Hamirpur.

In a separate appeal related to three COVID-19 patients, the Administration has appealed that the people who have come in contact with any of these three patients in the villages where they had stayed after returning from Tablighi Jamaat in Delhi to come out and disclose information regarding it to either Nalagarh Administration, local Police Station or to Police Control Room Baddi on 01795-271350.

In case, any such person who has come in contact with any of these patients does not disclose this information, he/she would be booked under Section 307 of IPC (attempted murder). In case a person dies after contact with such person, he/she would be charged with murder under Section 302 of IPC (Murder).

HP Cabinet Decides 30% Cut in Salary/Honorarium of CM, Speaker, MLAs, All Political Appointees

Shimla-Himachal Pradesh Cabinet meeting was held through video conferencing today which was presided over by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur from Shimla in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic

The Cabinet decided to deduct 30 percent salary/honorarium etc. of the Chief Minister, Speaker of H.P. Vidhan Sabha, Ministers, Deputy Speaker, Members of Legislative Assembly of Himachal Pradesh, Chairmen and Vice-Chairmen of various Boards and Corporations and all political appointees for one year.

It also decided to suspend Vidhayak Kshetra Vikas Nidhi Yojna for two years.

The Government said these funds will be used to strengthen the Government’s efforts in managing the challenges and adverse impact of COVID-19 in the State.

The decision came after the Union Cabinet approved the ordinance amending the Salary, Allowances and Pension of Members of Parliament Act, 1954, slashing their earnings by 30 per cent effective from April 1 for a year. The ordinance will have to be passed by the Parliament when it is in session next.

Further, on the occasion of the World Health Day, the Cabinet expressed their gratitude to the doctors, nurses, paramedical staff, sanitary workers and police for their dedicated services during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Cabinet also paid its tributes to Paratrooper Bal Krishan of village Puid, district Kullu and Subedar Sanjeev Kumar of village Dehra, Hatwad panchayat, district Bilaspur who made supreme sacrifice during anti-infiltration operation in Keran sector of North Kashmir recently.
