Shimla tops HP in crimes against women cases

SHIMLA: Shimla tops the list of districts in cases pertaining to domestic violence and crimes against women in the state, followed by Mandi and Kangra.

In 2012, the highest number of complaints for different cases, pending and going, on include 273 from Shimla, 154 from Mandi, 130 from Kangra, 62 from Kullu with the leasing being 9 from Chamba. Shimla district reported the largest number of complaints — 150 in 2004-05, 123 in 2005-06, 100 in 2008-09 and 208 in 2009-10. Mandi district reported 94, 82, 104 and 151 respectively during these years.

Kangra also registered a large number of complaints with state women commission (SWC) — 125 in 2004-05, 134 in 2005-06, 77 in 2008-09 and 104 in 2009-10.
