Himachal HC notice to Jaypee and Govt. over non-implementation of labour laws

The HP High Court today issued notices to the state government and the Managing Director (MD) of the Jai Prakash Power Ventures Limited on a petition filed by the Jay Pee Workers’ Union on the issue of non-implementation of labour laws.While issuing notices, a Division Bench, comprising Chief Justice Mansoor Ahmad Mir and Justice Dharam Chand Chaudhary, further directed the respondents, including Secretary (Home), Secretary (Labour & Employment), Labour Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, Kinnaur, Superintendent of Police, Kinnaur, to file their replies by March 30.Citing oral direction of the High Court, Rakesh Singha today shot a letter to the District Magistrate, Kinnaur, asking him to allow the striking workers to enter their camps. The camps are located in Kupa, Kilba, Sholtu, Kagsthal and Sherpa colony and the workers were residing here before the imposition of the Section 144 at the camp sites. ~ PTI
