Shimla’s Lion-head water taps – British era heritage left in ruin
SHIMLA- British built many heritage structures in Shimla, and there is no doubt that our Govt. isn’t able to touch the sense for architectural aesthetic that British had a century ago. Even the small parts of infrastructure were built with beauty like these Lion-head water taps. You can some of them on Boileauganj-Chaura Maidan-Shimla Ridge road and on some other locations. They are made of cast iron. Why the Govt. didn’t preserve or maintained these beautiful taps around Shimla city. They are in a very poor condition. I don’ know about the Govt. or the people, but I think they go with the image of Shimla and such pieces must be maintained and preserved.
