St. Bede’s College kicks off two day national seminar on web based technologies
SHIMLA- Today, St. Bede’s College organized a two days national seminar on web based technologies that’ll conclude on May. The event was organized in collaboration with the Department of Computer Science.
The objective of the seminar is to bring together researchers, academicians and practioners interested in technological advances and business applications of web based technologies. The seminar also aimed at extending help through awareness about different aspects of internet technologies, e-communities and e-business.
On the first day, the Chief Guest Dr. Ganesh Hegde, Assistant Advisor, NAAC and the delegates, inaugurated the session. Dr. Ganesh Hegde, in his address, discussed the criteria wise assessment by NAAC of institutions of higher education. He emphasized on the importance of infrastructural learning resources.
Dr. Manu Sood, Director, UIIT, Shimla, in her address spoke about Internet and World Wide Web and provided valuable information about the transfer of data and information sharing resources.
The plenary session also discussed web based technologies, “Present & the Future” that was chaired by Dr. Arvind Kalia, Professor, Department of Computer Science, H.P.U, Shimla including other panelists, Dr. Karan Jeet Singh Kahlon, Dr. Shuchita Upadhyaya, Mr. Jawahar Thakur and Mr. Sanjay Sharma.
In the first technical session themed ‘Universal Networking language: A Web based Solution to bridge Language Barriers”, Dr. Shuchita Upadhyaya, Professor, Kurukshetra University and Dr. Parteek Kumar Bhatia, Thapar University, Patiala discussed about various aspects of the theme and answered the queries put forth by the students. In the final session of the first day, the delegates presented their research papers on various topics related to the theme of the seminar.
Earlier, St. Bede’s college had organized a Cyber Crime Awareness Program in which Abhishek Dullar,Superintendent of Police, State Vigilance & Anti-corruption Bureau, Himachal Pradesh, educated students about cyber threats, their effects, and methods to deal with these threats.
