Centre approves Rs. 187 crore AMRUT Mission for Shimla city

SHIMLA- In a meeting, held under the Chairmanship of Secretary, Ministry of Urban Development, to approve the plan for AMRUT Mission at New Delhi, the Government of India has approved the State Annual Action Plan (SAAP) under AMRUT Mission for Shimla city for projects worth Rs. 187.75 crores for next three years upto 2018 and Rs. 52 crores upto March 2016.

The first installment shall be released before 31st December 2015.

The thrust sectors based on priority which will be taken up under this mission are:

1) Water supply
2) Sewerage facilities and septage management
3) Storm water drains to reduce flooding
4) Pedestrian, non-motorized and public transport facilities, parking spaces, and
5) Enhancing amenity value of cities by creating and upgrading green spaces, parks and recreation centers, especially for children.

State Level Improvement Plan (SLIP) was compiled by M.C. Shimla and approved in a Special House of M.C. Shimla on October 9, 2015.

AMRUT Mission for Shimla city

The total outlay of AMRUT mission for Shimla city from centre is Rs. 79.4 crore for three (3) years and rest will be beared by State Government and ULB.

The total sharing of funds will be in ratio of 50: 30:20. The share of centre will be 50%, the share of state will not be less than 20% and can be more than 20% and the rest amount will be shared by ULB. This project will give thrust to the pace of Development for Shimla city.

The SAAP for AMRUT Mission was presented by Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Shimla to committee chaired by Secretary, Ministry of Urban Development and attended by various officers and expert at Delhi for AMRUT Mission.
