Watch: Female shoplifter in Nahan Jewelry shop caught on CCTV stealing gold-rings
NAHAN- On Tuesday evening two incidents of shoplifting were reported from two separate jewelry shops in Nahan, district Sirmaur of Himachal Pradesh. One of the incidents was caught on a CCTV footage. The footage shows a gang of shoplifters stealing 4-5 gold-rings worth Rs. 50-60 thousands very cleverly from the jewelry shop. Surprisingly, the gang comprising of two women and a male executed the theft right in front of the owner, who is an elderly man.
The gang engaged the owner to engross him in displaying various ring-designs. One of the females picked up a few rings and pretended observing them like a genuine buyer. Finding a perfect moment, she slipped one of the rings into her mouth and later spit it out into her cloths through top of her shirt. Same series of events continued until 4-5 rings were cleverly swept away without any hint to the owner.
Pretending as customers, the gang bought one gold-ring and left the shop safely without creating suspicion.
However, the entire drama was recorded in CCTV. Police has registered a complaint, but has not found any success yet. The video was posted by a user on his Facebook wall.
Similarly, the gang stole two gold-rings and two gold-earrings from another shop named OM Prakash Jewelers located at Bada-Chowk. In this shop, the shoplifter bought a silver-ring worth Rs. 100 while pretending as customers. The cost of the jewelry is estimated to be over Rs. 50 thousand.
It is noticeable that for past few months, incidents of pick-pocketing and minor thefts have increased. The police suspects involvement of a larger gang that may include several other men or women.
