HPPIC holds workshop on Intellectual Property Rights in Shimla to educate students and researchers on patent filing
SHIMLA- Himachal Pradesh State Council for Science, Technology and Environment (SCSTE) organized a one day workshop on “Intellectual Property Rights in Research, Development and Academics” on November 25, 2016 at Conference Hall, HFRI, Panthaghati, Shimla.
Himachal Pradesh Patent Information Centre (HPPIC), a wing of HP SCTE, facilitated the workshop in which IPR experts from TIFAC, DIPP, Patent Office and K&S Law firm educated participants about importance of IPRs and their protection, Patenting system in India, National IPR Policy and its impact, International filing through PCT etc. in the field of research, development and Academics.
While most of us are aware of common ownership laws for physical entities we buy or receive as legal owner, there is a lack of awareness about Intellectual Property Rights. Innovations, discoveries, ideas, concepts etc. require to be recognized officially by the government or authorised body. That makes it a necessity to create awareness among researchers and academics.
About 80 participants including faculty, students and researchers from Universities and R&D institutions of the State participated in this workshop. The workshop was of immense value to enlighten participants with knowledge and insights on the subject and encourage them for patent filing.
