Demonetization adversely hit tourism, apple growers, working class in Himachal, Worst yet to come: CPI(M)
In order to identify and unearth 3 percent black money in the economy it has put 97 % of the people to pains and inconvenience.
SHIMLA- ” Tugalaqi Farman” of the Center Govt to demonetize has adversely affected the economy of the State. Never before, in recent history has the state “plunged in a recessionary mood” which is becoming worse with each passing day, alleged the Communist Party of India (Marxist) in a statement released on Monday.
It further said that the worst is yet to come and the pain of the workers engaged in different industrial, establishments, construction companies and small concerns will increased after 10th December, 2016. An analysis suggest that employers won’t be able to make payments to the workers for the previous month. More than 50 percent of the industrial establishment in Baddi, Barotiwala, Nalagarh, Parwanoo, Solan, Mehatpur, Kala Amb, Poanta Sahib and Damtal have either closed or the manpower have been substantially reduced, it further alleged.
In the last five years the Tourism industry was growing in the state and had registered a growth rate of 10.5 percent. But since 8th Nov. 2016 it has witnessed a vertical dip as the tourist inflow has virtually come to a stand still.
No new customers are checking into the hotels, restaurants are empty, vegetable markets are deserted and no one even dares to enter a shop. Buying consumer goods is not possible as public is not even prepared to do window shopping. The statement further said, there are reports of fall in tourist occupancy of over 70% from different tourist destination in Shimla, Mandi, Kullu, Dharamshala, Palampur, Dalhousie and Chamba.
There are also reports that commission agents are refusing to make payments to farmers for the fruits purchased by them in the previous months, on excuse of liquidity crunch. The Kinnow and citrus fruit farmers of Indora area in Kangra have been severely affected. The Buyers of citrus fruit in different parts of the state have refused to buy the fruits of the farmers, said the statement.
The CPI (M) has stated there is massive liquidity crunch in the state, the people are suffering and the BJP cadres have closed their eyes to the sufferings of the people. The BJP is not alive to the problems of the people, they have converted themselves into a Bunch of Sycophants, which is dangerous for the Indian Democracy.
The CPI(M) has demanded proper explanation from the RBI Governor on the “prevailing financial crises.” Failing to provide a logical answer to the present crises, he must tender his resignation as an emergency situation as already set in by the Tugalaqi farman of the Modi Govt, CPI(M) demanded. The loss to the state’s economy needs to be assessed by economic experts and the state needs to be compensated by the central Govt. for the losses that have incurred to the economy of the state, it further said.
The Party has alleged that the centre doesn’t have the political will to declare a war against black money, black business and black politics. In order to identify and unearth 3 percent black money in the economy it has put 97 % of the people to pains and inconvenience.
It is only creating illusions that black money can be unearthed by the process of demonetization adopted by the RBI. The Party has stated it will carry out the struggle against the Tugalaqi farman of the center Govt. Until all the black money is brought back from the Swiss Bank and NPA’s are paid back by the corporate houses or their assets are seized equivalent to the NPA amount.
