In Pictures: Republic Day 2017 celebrations at Shimla Ridge amid chilling, rainy climatic conditions

SHIMLA– The celebrations of India’s 68th Republic Day at the capital city of hill State Himachal Pradesh were diluted by rainy weather and freezing temperature with fast blowing winds. Still, all parades including those of school children (in NCC and NSS) were performed amid hostile climatic conditions. But the cultural and other performance suffered as they had to run to the gaiety theater, which proved insufficient and too congested for large crowd consisting of VVIPS, their security and common people. People also avoided getting out in such weatherl, so the crowd was largely missing.

The day was celebrated at various places in Himachal at various levels.
