Kullu SDO Bribery Case

PCB SDO Kullu caught red-handed accepting Rs. 1 lakh bribe

Kullu: The Himachal Pradesh Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau on Thursday, September 7, nabbed Sub-Divisional Officer of the State Pollution Control Board in Kullu district, accepting a bribe of Rs. 1 lakh from a restaurant owner.

The Vigilance department had laid a trap after a restaurant owner approached it with his complaint. The restaurant owner told the Bureau that he wanted to set-up a generator at his restaurant. He required a no objection certificate (NOC) to do so. However, the SDO, Chandan Singh, allegedly made repeated demands of Rs. 1 lakh bribe in lieu of NOC.

The SDO was arrested when he reached Dhaalpur to accept the bribe after office hours.

As per the Bureau, the official was already under its scanner due to previous complaints. The SDO was produced in a competent court that sent him to three-day police remand.

The Bureau also raided the residence of the official and found several gift packs. The Bureau said it expects to unearth accused SDO’s previous acts of corruption too.
