Solan gets Himachal’s first ‘One Stop Centre’ for victimized women

Shimla: Solan district of Himachal Pradesh had received State’s first ‘One Stop Centre’ to facilitate females, who are victims of society in one way or another. Irrespective of the age group, the Centre will offer assistance to every female who faces any sort of mental and physical torture, atrocities of domestic violence, trafficking, sexual harassment, depression or are forcefully subjected to black magic etc.
There is also a provision for such women to stay in the Centre for a week or so. In case, these women feel unsafe at home, they will be shifted to the Nari Seva Sadan, Mashobra, informed Mansi Sahai Thakur, Director, Social Welfare, Justice, and Empowerment Department. The inmates of One Stop Centre will also be provided legal aid and counselling services.
There is also a provision of security guards in the Centre. Apart from this, the services of the Para-Medical staff, police facilitating officers, counselors, and advocates will also be taken from time to time.
The NGOs can also approach the Centres, and will receive all assistance to redress the grievances of such women under one roof.
More such centers are required in other districts, therefore, in the first phase three such Centres have been proposed. One of them has been set up at Solan while Kangra and Mandi will soon receive the remaining two Centres, said the Director.
The Centre was inaugurated by the Chief Minister through video conferencing. The Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, Col. Dhani Ram Shandil, also accompanied the Chief Minister.
