EC strict on ‘meat and liquor’ feasts in Himachal, Public loses interest in political gatherings

As the polling date nears, party workers have accelerated village to village campaigning but for their surprise not more than 20 to 30 villagers are attending political meetings. If sources are to be believed, non-availability of meat and liquor in meetings is the main reason villagers are not taking interest in listening to repeated political speeches and manifestos. A shepherd said, “The main demand remains during panchayat elections. I have witnessed dozens of elections but the custom of serving meat during political campaigns and after poll results is decreasing every year.” (From Newspaper Times of India) Photo: allabouthimachal
