HC reserves order on petition challenging Virbhadra’s acquittal

SHIMLA: Himachal Pradesh high court on Monday reserved its judgment on the petition filed by former chairman of Himachal Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Board, S M Katwal, challenging the orders of special judge (forests), Shimla, acquitting Virbhadra Singh and his wife Pratibha Singh in the CD case.

The court of Justice Dharam Chand Chaudhary heard the arguments on the petition of S M Katwal to condone the delay of 96 days in filing an appeal. Katwal had filed an appeal in the high court challenging orders of the special judge in the corruption case involving an audio CD allegedly containing the conversation of Virbhadra Singh and Pratibha Singh with IAS officer Mohinder Lal (now deceased) for obtaining pecuniary advantages from two companies.
