Are politicians, industrialists an exception for police and media?
While Delhi Gangrape Accused were detained within 48 hours, Himachal & Haryana Police joint operations fails trace the newly-elected MLA from Doon Assembly Constituency, Chaudhary Ram Kumar, accused in Panchkula girl’s murder case.
The entire nation is out on the roads seeking justice for the Delhi rape incident victim who left for the heavenly adobe on 29th December 2012. Appeals for respectful treatment to the fairer sex can be heard everywhere. Each one can be heard saying that this death would not go waste as the girl has ignited the fire of social change in the entire national. Our worthy Prime Minister (who rarely speaks) said that Damini was a brave daughter of our nation. If she really was brave then why wasn’t the Honourable PM able to spare 10 minutes from his extremely busy schedule to meet the brave daughter in the past 13 days when she was in Safdarjung Hospital of Delhi.
Leave aside the entire nation; the best example is in my own home state: Himachal Pradesh. Newly-elected MLA from Doon Assembly Constituency, Chaudhary Ram Kumar is absconding for the past 2 months in a Panchkula girl’s murder case. He has been charge sheeted and police from two states: Haryana & Himachal have issued a look-out notice for him.
In Delhi rape case, for a change, all the 6 culprits hail from poor families. All 6 of them were arrested within 2 days of the incident. The being now dead, all 6 of them will be booked under murder charge of IPC and capital punishment can be awarded to them. Had the culprits been the sons of some minister, industrialist or other influential person, the Delhi Police would have expressed its helplessness to track the culprits and arrest them. The media would have ignored the issue as well.
The best example is that of Doon MLA Ram Kumar. The Himachal & Haryana Police joint operations are not able to trace the absconder. Are the police of two states really helpless & incompetent or is it the political pressure that stops them from acting. The media too is not interested in this issue. But we being a responsible media group, with an inherent duty of social awakening, cannot keep our eyes closed. We are proud to be the first ones to raise this issue online. We are no-one to judge whether Ram Kumar is a criminal or not, but his repeated absconding for the past one month points towards his indulgence in the crime. Had he been innocent, he would have surrendered and allowed laws take its course.
The people of Doon constituency too are feeling ashamed to have elected Mr. Ram Kumar as their legislator. Now it is for the Election Commission to decide that should such people be allowed to represent thousands in the state legislature, who themselves abscond & shirk in expressing their view point in front of the police.
The entire nation is agitating for a noble cause but the governments, not only central but state too, are behaving like blind, deaf & dumb. It’s high time now friends. We are the ones who are indebted to our country for the rich cultural heritage which we inherited from our forefathers. It’s time to return back a part of it. It’s time to stop complaining & Start Questioning; it’s time to start acting. We together will create a difference.
