CM dedicates the main gate of Sankat Mochan temple
Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today dedicated the main gate of Sankat Mochan temple of Shimla constructed in traditional wooden architect and texture with features such as Metoc Panma, Mermaid, Rattan and Kailasha flowers depicting convergence of both the Hindu and Buddhists religion and culture.
The Chief Minister appreciated the efforts of the sculptor Daya Chand who along-with his wife Sarmanti and sons Arun, Ajay and Shivang Tashi and other members of the family had constructed the magnificent gate which was one of the master-piece in itself and a living example of the wooden architect.
Virbhadra Singh also honoured Daya CHand and his family on the occasion and as a token of love gave a sum of five thousand to them.

Daya Chand who belongs to Panvi village of district Kinnaur said that he was in this profession from last thirty years and had inherited the art to the present era from his great grandfathers who were the master craftsmen. He said that among his few works include Badrinath temple of Batseri, Kalimata Temple of Chitkul, Narayan temple at Kalpa, Nag temple at Yula Kul Narayan temple at Panvi.
Later, the Chief Minister visited Taradevi temple and after paying obeisance performed the foundation stone laying ceremony of the main gate, a park, elevation project wherein the temple would be elevated and beautification of the surroundings. Former MP Smt. Pratibha Singh, Deputy Commissioner Shimla, Dinesh Malhotra and other senior officers of the State Government were present on the occasion.
