ANurag Thakur statements on Virbhadra Singh

Shimla: Anurag Thakur, Himachal Pradesh: Member of Parliament Hamirpur, took a jibe at Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh for the reason of his popularity in the State. The popularity of their CM is the result of his disproportionate assets and the corruption cases in his name, he said.

This statement came as a reply to a statement given by Congress leaders that BJP is afraid of Chief Minister’s popularity.

Anurag Thakur said the state has been impacted negatively in the current regime of Congress government owing to the selfish and indifferent attitude of the Chief Minister.

He along with his family has been involved in a number of corruption cases right from the time he assumed office in 2013, he alleged.

Not even once has the CM come on record and made his statement clear about his involvement in these cases,

he said.

The common man of Himachal has the right to know how their money is being used because public money is not for buying farmhouse in Delhi or for personal use of the CM and his family,

he said

He further said that once Himachal that had received close to 85 awards and accorded the number one position has now slipped to 24th position in the ranking.

Every second day you hear the news about crime against women and the Chief Minister regards such incidents as common and frivolous, he said.

A few days back, the Chief Minister had retaliated to repeated remarks over his time spent in cases against him. While addressing a public meeting at Amb in district Una on September 15, he had said,

They (BJP leaders) are attacking the Congress leader whom they fear the most.

He had also admitted spending a lot of time his court cases but justified that these cases are falsely framed by the BJP.

I am tired but not defeated. BJP should forget, rather should never think of defeating me even in their dreams,

he had said.

The CM had further said he was waiting for the moment when the judiciary of the country will honourably acquit him of all fabricated cases framed by the opponents.

HP ByPolls 2021: Total 24 Candidates File Nominations, Including Chetan Bragta as Independent Candidate

HP bye-Polls 2021 nominations

Shimla-Nominations for Himachal Pradesh By-Elections 2021 were filed on Friday by a total of 24 candidates, of which four are substitute candidates and nine independent. Two candidates of the Himachal Jan Kranti Party have also filed nominations from the Mandi Lok Sabha seat and the Fatehpur Assembly constituency. The remaining one nomination was filed by the candidate of Rashtriya Lok Neeti Party from Mandi Lok Sabha seat.

Today was the last day for filing nominations.

The nominations would be scrutinized on October 11, and October 13 would be the last date to withdraw nominations. The polling would be held on October 30.

While Congress has played safe and facing lesser in-fighting over the distribution of tickets, BJP faced resistance on all three Assembly seats – Arki, Jubbal-Kotkhai, and Fatehpur.

While BJP managed to convince two of its miffed leaders from Arki and Fatehpur to not file nominations as independent candidates, it couldn’t stop Chetan Bragta – son of former MLA Narender Bragta-from revolting. Bragta filed his nomination as an independent candidate from the Jubbal-Kotkhai Assembly seat where BJP had picked Neelam Seraik over him. A large procession followed Bragta while he filed the nomination. His supporters even blocked the road for Seraik who was on her way to file the nomination. Bragta’s supporters also shouted slogans against Suresh Bhardwaj, who is in-charge of the Jubbal-Kotkhai constituency for these bye-elections.

It’s pertinent to mention that Narender Bragta and Suresh Bhardwaj didn’t enjoy good political relations. When Bhardwaj was given charge of this constituency for the bye-elections, the decision had raised the eyebrows of supporters of Bragta. In this constituency, BJP is likely to face a hard time claiming a victory if it couldn’t convince Bragta to withdraw his nomination.

However, BJP leadership managed to convince Govind Sharma and Kripal Parmar, who were miffed over being denied ticket from Arki and Fatehpur seats respectively, to not jump into the fray as rebels.
