Restriction on holding protests, rallies in specified zones of Shimla town from today
Shimla – The district administration of Shimla has today imposed a restriction on holding protests or rallies at several specified zones of the town. The restriction will apply for two months from the date of notification (Aug 1).
All activities including organization of protests, demonstrations, slogan shouting, carrying weapons and banners will be strictly prohibited in these areas for next two months, said the Deputy Commissioner of Shimla, Rohan Chand Thakur.
These zones include the road from Chhota Shimla to Kennedy House and the Ridge, Rendezvous Restaurant to Rivoli Cinema, Scandal Point to Kalibari temple, Chhota Shimla- Kasumpti link road, Chhota Shimla Chowk to Raj Bhawan and Oak Over, link road between Cart-road and the Administrative Tribunal Office, AG Office to Cart-road, and from CPWD Office to Chaura Maidan, informed the DC.
On duty police, paramilitary and army staff will be free from these restrictions, informed the DC.
He further said the marriage festivities will also be free of these restrictions. He said the step was taken in order to maintain the law and order in the town for the convenience of the public.
