Virbhadra Gaddi community remark

Virbhadra explains his Gaddi Community remark, blames media and BJP for misinterpretation

Gaddi people and community leaders openly warned the Chief Minister of dire consequences in the next assembly polls if he did not apologize.

Shimla – The Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today blamed media and Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) for misinterpreting his reference to the Gaddi Community of Himachal Pradesh in a recent remark.

He said his statement pertaining to President of Gaddi Board was concocted and misinterpreted by the media. It is an old habit of BJP to blow issues out of proportion, he added.

A couple of days ago, while taking a jab on the State President of Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP), Satpal Satti, the Chief Minister had said, “सत्ती अध्यक्ष हैं तो क्या, अध्यक्ष तो गद्दी समुदाय के भी होते हैं”( What if Satii is the President (of BJP). Gaddi people also have a president)

Within no time, the news circulated on social media along with some local media portal. Gaddi people and community leaders openly warned the Chief Minister of dire consequences in the next assembly polls if he did not apologize.

The opposition picked up this golden-opportunity without any delay and jumped in to criticize the Chief Minister.

On Wednesday, he explained, he meant that the President of State Gaddi Kalyan Board had more followers and respect than the BJP State President.

An update regarding this explanation was also posted on his Social Media page.

It was the Congress Govt. that had formed the Gaddi Kalyan Board, said the Chief Minister while explaining his remark after a fierce criticism from the Community and the opposition.

Correcting his mistake, he said he is proud of this community and the government would always be committed for the welfare of Gaddi community.

Virbhadra was speaking to media in Dharamsala where he inaugurated the Rs 9.85 crore ‘War Museum’ ahead of 75th Anniversary of the Quit India movement.
