Shimla: The Congress had released the first list of the candidates for the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly polls on October 18. The list had named candidates for 59 constituencies.
On October 22, Congress named the candidates for the remaining nine seats. Vikramaditya Singh, son of the Chief Minister Virbahdra Singh, was also given ticket from Theog by the Congress high command.
As previously announced by the CM, his son will contest the assembly polls from Shimla-rural constituency, which was vacated by the father for him.
Further, Deepak Rathore has replaced Vidya Stokes in the Theog constituency. Strokes had announced her retirement as Virbahdra Singh was initially planning to replace her.
Daughter of sitting MLA and cabinet minister Kaul Singh, Champa Thakur, had already filed her nomination and now Ashish Butail, the son of BB Butail, was given a ticket from Palampur too.
Here is the list of remaining candidate
|Shahpur||Kewal Singh Pathania|
|Manali||Hari Chand Sharma|
|Kullu||Surender Singh Thakur|
|Anni- SC||Paras Ram|
|Shimla Rural||Vikramaditya Singh|
The remaining candidates including Vikramaditya will file their nominations on October 23 – the last date of filing nominations for the polls. The last date for the withdrawal of the nomination is October 26.
Virbhadra Singh has already filed the nomination from Arki constituency this time. Paras Ram has replaced the name of Bansi Lal for the Anni (SC) constituency.
Bhartiya Janata Party has already released the list of candidates for all 68 constituencies, but still not clear about the Chief Ministerial candidate.
The political activity and attitude of the BJP high command appears to prefer a new face this time. Former Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal is likely to be replaced by the Union Health Minister JP Nadda, if the current situation is to be considered.
It is speculated that BJP would fight election without declaring the CM candidate to avoid infighting. The Dhumal camp is certainly not happy with it.
