Kotkhai Gudiya Case: Former Shimla SP DW Negi arrested by CBI
Shimla: In a major action in the custodial killing at the Kotkhai police station, the Central Bureau of Investigation on November 16 arrested DW Negi, then Superintendent of Police, Shimla.
Negi was arrested after the CBI questioned him at its Shimla-based office and later produced in the court that sent him to a four-days custody.
As per the sources, he said to be involved in filing of a fake case in the custodial killing of Suraj – one of the six accused arrested by the SIT in the gangrape and murder of a minor in Kotkhai region of Shimla district in July this year.
On July 19, following the custodial killing, former SP DW Negi, in a media statement, had said that Suraj was killed by one of the co-accused Raju following a scuffle inside the lock-up.
Negi was transferred following the incident and given charge of the Vigilance department as the SP.
Eight police officials including Zahur H Zaidi, then Inspector General and head of the SIT, and Manoj Joshi, the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Theog, are already behind the bars. All police officials are lodged at the Kanda prison. Negi is likely to join them soon.
Earlier, the CBI had sent for the DW Negi and a couple of other police officials for questioning in connection with custodial killing of Suraj on July 18 at the Kotkhai police station.
However, today the CBI eventually arrested the blue eyed officer of the Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh.
