Rain and snow hit traffic at Kullu-Manali highway

Manali: Landslides triggered by rain and snow have damaged the Kullu-Manali national highway and bypass road at many places, which is in turn hampering traffic and posing danger to people. The entiremountain is sliding on the road in Rangri, 4km before Manali, and is a threat to hundreds of vehicles plying on the road. A big part of Manali-Kullu bypass is sinking at New Manali and its retaining wall has been damaged. The highway could collapse at any time. Meanwhile, a huge retaining wall which was recently built on a road near Bahnu has collapsed. The road was to link Kullu-Manali national highway with Kullu-Manali bypass road. Dozens of more minor landslides are being noticed on highways in Kullu. Nehru Kund on Manali-Rohtang highway has become another danger zone where Border Roads Organization is engaged in widening of the highway. TOI
