Kotkhai Probe: CBI gets 55 more days to submit final report
Shimla: The Central Bureau of Investigation submitted a 70-page report in the Himachal Pradesh High Court on October 25 in relation to the ongoing probe into gruesome gangrape and murder of a minor girl in July 2017. The agency was granted more 55 days to file the final report.
As the court has requested the media to not report the hearing, the only credible information was received through the counsel.
However, a report by an English Daily said the CBI has sought six more months to complete the investigation. The report did not clear what does it actually imply.
He said the CBI’s report has satisfied the division bench comprising of the acting Chief Justice Sanjay Karol and Justice Sandeep Sharma about the progress in the case.
Though the forensic reports, as per credible sources, have failed point out the real culprits, CBI has given sufficient evidences in its 70-page long report to convince the court. At least, this what the court’s satisfaction suggests.
In relation to the FIR registered in the custodial death of the accused Suraj Singh, the court has asked the agency to file chargesheet by November 20.
In the case of rape and murder of the minor of the minor, the court sought submission of a complete report by December 20.
Yet again, the parents, public and social activists who were awaiting a deliverance of justice were disappointed to such an extent that they reportedly chased the CBI SIT while they were leaving the court premises after the hearing. The activists tried to ‘gherao’ the SIT asking them to reveal information about the real culprits.
However, with the intervention of the local police and co-operation of the CBI officials, the matter was later resolved.
As per reports, one of the CBI officials invited a representative of the activist group to the CBI office and succeeded in convincing her as well.
The hearing came as a relief to the CBI which has been facing the wrath of the court for its slow pace of the investigation. Prior to this report, the agency has filed at least half-a-dozen incomplete reports in the court.
Remember that all accused arrested in relation to the rape and murder of the minor are out on bail as the CBI had failed to file a chargesheet within 90 days.
Ironically, the HP Police’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) including the Inspector General Zahur H Zaidi and DSP of Theog Manoj Joshi that had arrested these six accused is behind bars in judicial custody.
