The Dhalli bypass road becoming more prone to mishaps
The massive scale construction work on the Dhalli bypass road putting the lives of the passengers and the drivers at risk as the sites lack any provision to alarm them about the debris and the rocks rolling down to the road.
It has been just two years since the inception of bypass road from the Dhalli to the Sanjauli and today, it doesn’t look like it was back then, a clean and beautiful highway, where you could have got the best driving experience of all time. Today, this road is no different from our very own – the congested and filthy- Sanjauli road. The construction work on a massive scale is apparent as a reason for all. However, the construction work on the roadside is creating serious issues, and sometimes it puts the lives at risk. That’s what happening on the Dhalli bypass road.
The JCBs are working all day to dig and cut the hills at the base to make space for the proposed infrastructure. However, the stones and large parts of the rocks roll down to the road with a great force and that forces the drivers to stop till the it’s quite. Thus, the traffic jams are frequent. However, the worst part is that there are no single flags, any men to warn the drivers against the falling rocks or any sort of safety measure that ensure the safety of the vehicle passing by.
Drivers or passengers come out and try to manage the situation but, that’s an act of being a volunteer, whereas these construction sites need dedicated measures to ensure the safety and regulation of the traffic. Other than that the road remains covered with parts of rocks and mud, creating greater risk for the two wheelers which can lose their balance and skid on the muddy surface.
Neither the government or the private builders care even a bit about their responsibility for the lives they are putting at risk. Both of them would wake up the day when a great loss of lives or damage to the vehicles had already taken place. Its’s an irony that our own people and the government have little or no value for the lives and property of the public. HW visited the site on the complaint of our regular reader and talked to some of the men working on the site and drivers regarding the issue.
Sandeep, who works at the site said, “There are many big firms, who are working here and in a few days, you are going to see many more JCB’s and buildings here.” When asked about the threat of falling stones he said, “It is dangerous for the workers here as you never know when some stone is going to bang our heads.”
Ranjana Sharma, a local resident said, “Today, when I was going to office, a stone just fell onto my car and caused a great damage my car. At that time, I really got scared as it could have taken my life, but luckily the stone was not that big.”
The passengers and the drivers using the road are being forced to live the life on the wire.Surprisingly, even the public doesn’t bother to raise the issue as the our social culture doesn’t teach them to think other than their personal interests and safety. Let something serious happen and government would itself think about it.
However, HW is thankful to the citizen who at least bothered to put HW a mail regarding the serious issue. HW would make sure the complaint reaches the responsible department so that the necessary provisions defined for such a circumstance could be enforced and the probability of any serious loss of both, life and property, could be averted.
